04/09 - 09/09: Bacterial Networks Conference, 2010
BacNet10 (Sant Feliu de Guixols, Spain) will cover the mechanisms and principles of information collection, integration and implementation in bacteria. In the past decades molecular studies have unveiled the metabolic and regulatory circuitry of bacterial cells in unprecedented detail. This provides an excellent opportunity to analyze the physiology of these organisms on a systems level using quantitative, model-driven approaches. The meeting will actively involve world-leading scientists from different areas of molecular microbiology, computational modeling, and systems biology and will include sessions on global regulation, networks and switches, network modeling and engineering, microbial cell biology, microbial development, stress response, and cell-cell communication. By bringing together cutting-edge research from related but often non-intersecting fields, the meeting will strive for cross-fertilization of different ideas and concepts of modern-day microbiology. Young scientists are encouraged to apply for a meeting and travel grant upon registration.

Es un placer anunciar la VIII Reunión del Grupo de Microbiología Molecular de la SEM, que tendrá lugar en Barcelona del miércoles 10 al viernes 12 de Noviembre de 2010. Esperamos vuestra participación activa en esta reunión, donde tendremos la oportunidad de conocer los avances más destacados en el campo de la microbiología molecular y podremos debatir las tendencias y desafíos en esta área. 19/09 - 24/09: 15th International Symposium on Biodeterioration and Biodegradation (IBBS-15)
On behalf of the International Biodeterioration and Biodegradation Society we are pleased to invite you to the 15th International Symposium on Biodeterioration and Biodegradation (IBBS-15) to be held in Vienna (Austria) at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences from 19th to 24th September 2011. The IBBS-15 Symposium is dedicated to different topics dealing with biodeterioration and biodegradation of organic and inorganic materials including cultural heritage objects, corrosion of metals and rocks, applied aspects of biotechnology such as conversion of lignocellulose, bioremediation of polluted soils and water and state of the art techniques to study function and diversity of microorganisms involved in these processes.The symposium takes place every three years, assembling scientists from different parts of the World. Young scientists (< 36 years old) are particularly encouraged to attend. The IBBS-15 scientific presentations, the poster discussion and workshops will be hosted by the Department of Biotechnology. We hope to meet you in Vienna and invite you to visit the IBBS-15 homepage where you find further information about the topics, the organization and the congress venue. We kindly ask you to fill in our short pre-registration form to make sure that you receive all further information.
